Then in 2021, tech giant Apple announced it will build a 3,000-employee campus just 3 miles outside of Preston. “Preston has always been popular, but it’s seen a resurgence,” says Davis Holt, a real estate agent with Compass who has worked in Triangle real estate for more than a decade. “The speculation is as Apple moves in, this is where the executives will want to be.” Perched between Durham and Raleigh, Preston is a cluster of planned communities that offer high-end homes, a suburban lifestyle and well-rated public schools.
